What is The Feldenkrais Method® and The Anat Baniel Methodsm?

The Feldenkrais Method® and The Anat Baniel Methodsm are forms of movement education that uses gentle movement patterns and directed attention to improve ease and efficiency of movement, relieve and remove pain, and empower you to continue to progress. Through these Methods, you can increase your ease and range of motion, improve your flexibility and coordination, and rediscover your innate capacity for graceful and efficient movement.

Who is The Feldenkrais Method® and The Anat Baniel Methodsm for?

The Feldenkrais Method® and The Anat Baniel Methodsm are for those wishing to improve upon certain aspects of their life.  You could be wishing to improve your yoga practice by increasing flexibility and coordination you could wish to improve athletic performance.  On the other hand you may suffer from a previous stroke or neuromuscular challenge such as Cerebral Palsy, Lissencephaly, Brachial Plexus, Multiple Sclerosis, Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy or Parkinson’s disease.  You also may have difficulty with Chronic Pain such as Fibromyalgia, Back, Neck, or Joint Pain and wish to be pain free.  You may also be the parent of a child with special needs that wishes the best for their child.

How does The Feldenkrais Method and The Anat Baniel Methodsm work?

The Feldenkrais Method® and The Anat Baniel Methodsm are done in two forms: group lessons called Awareness Through Movement® and Transformational Movement Lessons and private Functional Synthesis and Functional Integration® lessons.

 

Awareness Through Movement® and Transformational Movement Lessons

 

 

Awareness Through Movement® and Transformational Movement Lessons consist of verbally directed, gentle, and pain free movement sequences presented in a fully clothed group format.  A lesson generally lasts from thirty to sixty minutes. Each lesson is usually organized around a particular function.  In Awareness Through Movement® and Transformational Movement Lessons, people engage in structured movement explorations that involve thinking, sensing, moving, and imagining. Many are based on developmental movements and ordinary day-to-day activities. Some are based on explorations of joints, muscles, and posture. The lessons consist of comfortable, easy movements that gradually evolve into greater ranges and complexity.

Functional Synthesis and Functional Integration® Lessons

 

 

Functional Synthesis and Functional Integration® lessons are hands-on form of touch and sensory communication. The practitioner communicates how you organize your body and hints, through gentle touch and movement, how to move with more ease and pain free ranges.  All Functional Synthesis and Functional Integration® lessons are done fully clothed on a table, chair, or in standing.  At times, various props (pillows, rollers, blankets, etc.) are used in an effort to support the person’s body or to facilitate certain movements.  All Functional Synthesis and Functional Integration® are custom-tailored for you and your particular needs.
